Liners should be stored in a cool dry environment. Liners will not biodegrade in storage, biodegradation will only be initiated in a compost environment in the presence of micro-organisms, humidity and warmth. However, over time, the material may lose some of its mechanical properties and weaken.
To ensure optimum performance we would recommend purchasing no more than you would expect to use over a 12 month period.

Our grey mailing bags are made from 100% recycled polythene and are fully degradable. They are manufactured with the inclusion of Biothene, which is added during the extrusion process. This reacts with sunlight to break down the molecular chains in the material over time, so once exposed to heat and light will start to degrade over a period of about 18 months into completely safe materials (water, carbon dioxide and naturally occurring inert non-toxic materials).
For larger orders we may use re-cycled cardboard boxes to lessen the impact on the environment.

We would certainly recommend lining your Kitchen Caddy. The main advantage of using a liner being hygiene, it helps keep the caddy cleaner and combat food odours and flies while collecting your food waste. You could of course line both or just the outside Kerbside Caddy.
Our liners are fully compliant with the European standard EN 13432 and as such are approved for use with council food waste recycling schemes.
